About

Hi. My name is Rohan. I was born and educated in the UK, and moved to Japan in 2009 after completing a Bsc (Hons) in International Business with Modern Languages at Aston University. I have spent a total of over 10 years in Japan.

After gaining solid business experience in Japan’s IT industry, I moved into financial translation, working in house at Mizuho Securities and Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities.

I am now a full-time Japanese-English freelance translator, specializing in finance. Specifically, I translate both equity research and debt research reports, as well as macroeconomic research. This requires a broad understanding of a variety of industries including autos, chemicals, real estate, pharma, banking, insurance, and so on. From time to time, I also handle other areas of finance and business translation such as IR materials and accounting.

In my previous in-house roles, I was responsible for checking and approving J-E translations so I have an in-depth understanding of financial institutions’ requirements and relevant regulatory compliance. As for the latter, I am certified as a JSDA Series 1 Securities Sales Representative and JSDA Internal Control Manager.

During my work as a translator, I put an emphasis on both speed and accuracy while also striving to deliver translations in smooth language that is easy to read. Looking to outsource a translation project? Please feel free to reach out here.
